There’s a kind of joy and an electric energy that comes from poetry, even when it’s hard-hitting and the subject matter oft-times covered in darkness. Its modern incarnation, the art of “spoken word”, is a fusion of poetry and performance that draws on rhythms of the street and the culture of urban America. Some call it a “revival” of the Beat Era of the ’50s, with poetry and spoken word making a comeback in nightclubs and coffeehouses of America’s big cities. This organic, raw verse continues its evolution, in the documentary feature film, “SP!T”.

    You know I’m lovin’ this
    like a governess
    love’s her mistress’ husband..
And who knows what kind of bun in the oven.. Yet she sings loud and proud
The Hills are alive with sound of
Cries of children who live off
the bread of lies.. That help is coming
to feed the hungry and the homeless
    Who’s gonna own this paper?
It’s faker than a 3 dollar bill on
    capitol hill
    first came
    Clarence Thomas then came Bill
All over that poor girls dress
    What a mess!
    Distorted stories
    more important than the orphans
    and those lost to abortions
    subject to the masses
Never taught that in college classes
Will you please spit a rhyme
so the blind brothers can find
their way out of the dark forest RUN!
    Another Gun aimed at
    the black man’s pelvis
    Is there any wonder why
    We feel so helpless.

What better way to post to this.. lol.

I SPIT! *Good Looks V. ;) Will be checkin this out!!
